The Word of God tells us that He has given us everything we need to live a Godly and fulfilled life on this earth.

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. (2 Pet 1:3)

Everything means everything. No holding back. Why then do we sometimes feel as if we are walking through lead in certain areas of our lives? Or as if the heavens are brass when we pray? Surely, the promises of the Lord are true today, and we can and should expect them to be fulfilled in our lives. And yet, sometimes something gets in the way. We get a little lost, a little dry, a little blocked up.

The good news is that the Lord has given us everything for a godly life. This includes the tools to removing the blockages that cause stagnation, bondage, and heartache.

Isaac reopened the wells that had been dug in the time of his father Abraham, which the Philistines had stopped up after Abraham died, and he gave them the same names his father had given them. (Genesis 26:18)

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.
(Isaiah 12:3)

These Scriptures tell us two things.

  1. We have spiritual wells within us from which we need to draw. Wells imply digging; they imply depth. Sometimes we need to dig deep to get to the truths of God and appropriate them into our lives. This can take on various forms, such as digging into the Scriptures, spending time in the presence of the Lord, meditating on the promises of God, walking in close relationship with strong Christian leaders and friends, fasting, and a lifestyle of prayer. There is no one formula for a specific situation. Rather, we learn how to dig as we walk in step with the Spirit. He will lead us.
  2. These wells can get blocked. In order to get to the life-giving refreshment, we need to allow the Lord to restore these wells in our lives. Once again, the Lord can use various ways to accomplish this, but he can do it and he will do it in your life. Seek Him, even right now. Ask Him if there are wells in your life that need to be unblocked. Speak with someone that you trust, someone who has maturity in the Lord and a solid foundation in the Scriptures. Ask them to stand with you in prayer.

The Lord promises life, healing, and freedom to His people. He will give us these things if we will ask.

Jesus answered… ‘whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life’.
(John 4:13 – 15 NIV)
